Renting a car in Cuba is closer to paperwork than to booking a hotel. The island has a rental network and a vehicle fleet, but what shapes the experience is the contract and the driver requirements.
Driver documents
- A valid driver's license in force, in the format the destination requires.
- Authorization from the vehicle owner when the policyholder isn't the driver.
- Minimum age and license tenure, which the destination team verifies before confirming.
The contract, read calmly
Deductible, insurance policy, fuel policy, included mileage, and possible damage charges are explained before signing. None of those terms should come up for the first time on the day of delivery.
Pickup and return
Pickup happens at the destination team's office, which checks the vehicle's condition and signs the handover record. The return can be at that same office or another one, if our delivery network on the island authorizes it: it is best to confirm that up front, not on the last day.
